Stephen started his career as a founding partner of the highly respected California lemon law firm Barnes & Farrell and has since continued the tradition of helping victims of faulty vehicle and consumer goods purchases.

Background & Professional Experience

Attorney Stephen Barnes has 30 years of professional legal experience and has been focusing exclusively on California lemon law and other automobile cases since 1990. Stephen is a cum laude salutatorian (2nd) graduate of Western State University College of Law. Stephen’s legal experience while still in school includes holding a prestigious clerkship with Presiding Justice Harmon Scoville of the California Court Appeal 4th District, Division 3.

A Reputation for Results

Stephen personally handles all aspects of your lemon law case from beginning to end out of our Orange County office. He has successfully resolved several thousand auto claims for California consumers, including acting as lead counsel on Mitchell v. Blue Bird Body Company (2000) 80 Cal.App.4th 32, 95 Cal.Rptr.2d 81.

This case established that consumers of repurchased lemon vehicles are entitled to the reimbursement of finance charges when enforcing their rights under the California lemon law, and has helped shape the recovery that consumers are able to obtain to this day.
